What is the point of this download mess? Affilate kickbacks? Just go MEGA ffs

I understand people's frustration over the "dead links" issue, and it's not just a handful. I believe it stems from the time when the site was experiencing downtime, possibly related to a vulnerability issue, and when it was resolved, multiple links were found to be broken.

This in NO WAY was a reflection on Pbthal or DDownload, and requires Pbthal to manually re-upload every affected file (extremely time-consuming).

The bottom line is, aside from the DDownload subscription, this service is completely FREE. I don't know if Pbthal will eventually re-upload the broken links, or simply re-rip the releases with the new Step-Up Edition, which by the way, SOUNDS FANTASTIC on my modest system.

Either way, we need to practice more GRATITUDE. Many here have said it before, Pbthal has given us all the opportunity to hear a multitude of rare OG and Audiophile vinyl recordings, without which we would have paid thousands, if not tens of thousands of dollars to experience, and without the notorious "clicks and pops."

I, for one, am grateful...

I agree, downloading as free user from ddl.com is a pain in the ass. I can recommend premium.to. with Jdownloader. The advantage is that it is traffic based and not time limited. So you can download about ~300 rips for 10€. 40€ here per year for ddownload.com are pretty fair IMO.

A DDownload subscription doesn't only give you almost instant downloads (each album takes just a few seconds) - it's also a nice way to show pbthal our gratitude, by using the affiliate link he posted on top of the site ("Filehost update" entry).

Of course the subscription doesn't solve the dead links issue, but that's another matter. DDownload is a bargain. If in doubt, try a one month subscription first (that's what I initially did) and I'm pretty sure you'll quickly understand the year subscription is absolutely worth it.

people are entitled. guy rips all these albums for us, and people are ungrateful. hopefully he ignores those folks and knows there are people like you (and me LOL) who are so happy to have these rips!
