DDownload Premium - Bad Speeds?

PreviousPage 3 of 5Next

I tried without VPN, and both direct downloads through Ddownload.com and by using Jdownloader still yielded download speeds of 5 kB/s. So downloading one album of around 900 mb would take around 53 hours. This was with free downloads.

So, apparently I pay for a Ddownload subscription or I never download anything again 🙁

I guess the good news is you can download as much as you can get your hands on in a month for $4 with RD.

RD is limiting traffic from DD to 1GB/daily. Shown under "Limits" on RD website. Is this new and/or territory specific? Had no issue previously, now download a couple of albums and get the red "hoster limit reached" error.

Is this new

See my previous post, here, on March 17.  I downloaded the whole recent list of rips with RD at 50mb with no interruptions.  If it is new it is very new, but I did have that problem in the past.

Yes, that was my prior experience as well, no issues downloading dozens of albums in a single session. Was trying to find out if the new limit issue is a quirk that is somehow specific to my setup, or is general that others have encountered. No idea how RD runs under the hood, so not sure if they target limits that narrowly to individual IPs or territories.

I don't know either... but RD might throttle certain services that are getting more traffic.  This is just speculation on my part.

Well, now DD doesn't seem to work at all with RD. Any DD link I paste into RD returns a "unavailable_file" error.

Ignore, DD is listed as down in hosters status

Hi, can you share files in Soulseek?

Fair enough. That's worth considering at some point.

I don't mean to be critical of Pbthal, since he's after all spending so much time on recording all these albums and putting them online for all of us, which I greatly appreciate, but I don't understand why the file host has to be a website that is so bad and for many people essentially unusable, when there are plenty of other file hosts out there, although I understand that some are more prone than others to taking content down, so ...

But still ...

And paying for a subscription will, as far as I understand, only benefit DDownload, not Pbthal.

On another topic, it would also be nice, if the files could be zipped in archives like .zip or .rar instead of 7z, because with 7z you can only unzip it once the entire album is downloaded, whereas with .zip and .rar you can unzip the part of the file that you have downloaded, which is very useful for downloads that have stopped or take forever, or if you only want one or a few songs.
