Just wanted to add my view: last year a copy of the MFSL issue of Santana's 'Abraxas' sold for $20,000 on Discogs, thanks to Patrick I have the 'black ice' rip of this album from the definitive returns lineage. Over the years I've probably spent $400-500 on various subscriptions in order to access Patrick's work, as bargains go I can't think of anything that has given me such joy. From CSM pressings to Quads, from RL, to Porkys with whatever set up has been used it's been a journey of discovery. Personally I love the 'black ice' set up, I prefer more bass over mid range detail, the CSM, Monarch and Classic records pressings hit the sweet spot for me. But to get to hear Japanese pressings with such refined detail or white labels, or the Steven Wilson mixes or the Dutch pressings of 'Moving Pictures' and '2112' let alone all the rare records and artists I'd never heard of and to sample Patrick's latest set up from the days of the PreLegacy to the Technics/Manley rig and to have dozens of new rips every month is an absolute privilege. I'm also losing my hearing and rely on hearing aids which perhaps explains my aversion to too much top end detail and why I can't tolerate remastered CDs or modern brickwalled recordings, either way my only rule is to listen without preconceptions and if real debrid is down so what, glitches happen in life as well as the internet, it'll sort itself out. Being allowed to be a member here is a gift beyond measure and after all these years I'm still astounded by Patrick's dedication to his craft. It's all good, people.

I'm actually very curious to hear the MFSL version you mentioned. If you don't mind, could you point me to the download link here on the forum? I'd love to compare it and then share my thoughts with you.
Personally, I'm not a big fan of remasters, regardless of who did them. I usually prefer listening to the music as close as possible to the original studio mix and original mastering.
I also agree with your thoughts about bass. For me, when the low end is well defined and the music has real groove, solid weight, and a kick drum that really drives the rhythm, everything feels more natural. It's like a house with strong foundations—everything else is built on top of that.
I'm sorry to hear about your current situation and that you have to listen through headphones. I really hope things improve soon and that you'll be able to enjoy your music the way you'd like.

Or the rare Freewheelin' Bob Dylan album with a different tracklist (deleted tracks), that was withdrawn very soon! Also soon withdrawn cause of licensing issues, the Journey Escape MFSL.
